US Swine Flu Cases 5/8/09

The CDC has reported 1639 cases (43 states) and 2 deaths on May 8th, 2009. This has extremely surpassed the largest increase for a single day with 743 new cases (almost double).  Are swine flu parties going on in Illinois and Wisconsin?

It's been two weeks since CNN has been heavily covering the swine flu pandemic (today, May 6th 2009, is the 14th day of coverage).  Here are the stats for the second week as reported from the CDC.  I'll also include the current US population along with the percentage affected.

The CDC has reported 624 cases (41 states) and 2 deaths on May 6th, 2009.  This again has surpassed the largest increase for a single day with 239 new cases.  The newest death came from the state of Texas again.
